Almost ten weeks after around 250 Christians were hunted out and captured in the Syrian town of Qaryatain, Islamic State (IS) jihadists have released 50 of the hostages. The freed captives safely arrived in Assyrian villages on 12 October.

Mob prevents Christian family from burying their deceased in Sri Lankan town
The family of a deceased Christian in Sri Lanka is devastated after being forced to bury their loved one in a cemetery 23km away after an angry mob of around 200-300 villagers violently prevented them from holding the funeral in the village cemetery and also in the church grounds.

The Western Archdiocese of
the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, providing Syriac news,
spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox community, is
a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of 25
churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was established in 1952
as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church encompassing the
entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by the Holy Synod of
Antioch, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively serve the
17 states of the western half United States.
